Objective

To design an intuitive and accessible app that helps people with cognitive impairments or elderly individuals manage daily tasks, such as medication reminders, through a multisensory experience. The goal was to create a system that is easy to navigate, integrates seamlessly with the user’s existing devices (such as smartphones, smartwatches, and televisions),
and provides personalized reminders that use familiar voices and gentle notifications. The app aims to reduce cognitive overload while enhancing the independence and well-being of its users.

What I've Done

User Research & Discovery – Conducted extensive research to understand the needs of elderly individuals and people with cognitive impairments, as well as their caregivers. Collaborated closely with healthcare professionals to ensure the app would provide value and align with therapeutic goals.

UX/UI Design & Prototyping – Developed a simple, intuitive user interface designed for all levels of tech proficiency, focusing on large buttons, clear typography, and an easy-to-navigate design. Used soft, calming colors that change according to the time of day to reduce visual overstimulation.

Multisensory Experience Integration – Integrated multisensory elements (vibration, auditory cues, and visual signals) to gently remind users of their tasks. Personalization features allowed users to choose a familiar voice to deliver reminders, creating a more comforting experience.

Personalized Reminders – Designed a feature allowing users to customize reminders based on their daily routines and preferences. The reminders could be set to appear at specific times and on specific devices, ensuring that users would be reminded in a way that felt natural and non-intrusive.

Usability Testing & Iteration – Worked directly with elderly individuals and cognitive impairment patients to test the app's effectiveness. Iterated the design based on user feedback to ensure maximum usability and comfort.

Device Compatibility & Accessibility – Ensured the app would work across a range of devices, including smartphones, smartwatches, and television, making it accessible to a wide audience. Additionally, the app was designed to accommodate users with varying levels of technological experience.

Final Design & Launch Preparation – Refined the final UI design and user flows to ensure ease of use, comfort, and accessibility. The app was optimized for performance, ensuring a smooth experience across all devices.
